The
proportions of the engraving are the perfect starting-point. We have numerous
reference books
to check or find a crest. |
Once the shape has been decided upon and the size established, we painstakingly carve a model of the proposed ring in wax.

The
wax model is then invested in a mixture, not unlike Plaster of Paris, and
baked in an oven until the wax is "lost". Molten gold is then
cast into the vacant space.

The cast ring, which emerges from the cast an unattractive charred black, is de-sprued before proceeding to the next bench.

Here
the de-sprued ring is worked on with a variety of files and papers, until
it is sufficiently perfect for its final application - the engraving.

The engraver's art is a very special one and we are proud to boast three of the finest engravers at work in the U.K at the moment. The finished ring is nothing short of glorious!
